Why I believe an underwater city is necessary

Growing up I have learned a great many things, from politics to engineering. But one of the main things I have come to realise is that the world as we know it is dying. Unlike many others who would simply protest and sign petitions for meaningless petty things; I have decided to think of a solution. The most obvious solution is change, but as I probe the minds of more and more people, I begin to understand that change is not in our vocabulary. Especially those in power. Along with stupidity and general foolishness, modern democracy has eliminated any meaningful national progress from almost all countries.

The general population is too afraid to face their issues and the politicians are too afraid to act, out of fear that the population with remove them from power and replace them with someone who simply appeases their needs, even if it isn't in their best interest.

In this world our voices are but one of many, our collective voice is the only thing a government hears. Sadly, the majority of people are having their political, economical, and social clarity dulled every day by mindless activities making them useless at understanding what they really need. Eventually, these political zombies sway elections after being easily influenced by lies, hollow promises, and policies that sound good but would do more harm than good.

Many of these people have also adopted the altruistic mindset, where they believed they are owed help from the government, the rich and the successful, simply because they exist. This mindset is borderline cancer on our society, everyone deserves help, everyone is entitled to some degree of aid in times of need or hardship. But it should not be expected that there will always be a safety net, as the net is only there because of the money paid by your fellow man and it should only be used as the last resort.

Progress in society is only achieved by everyone putting in the effort to drive forward a nation as a whole, almost all of the successful, wealthy and powerful realised this before becoming the people they are today. They exploit the 'drifter', those who want but do not work.

The successful work harder than their co-workers to achieve higher pay or promotion.

The wealthy sell what people want to make their life easier or more enjoyable.

The powerful give people what they want, even if half the time it is a lie.

Is it right these people make themselves from the backs of others? No.

Is it fair? Yes.

Ultimately all you need to tip the scales in your favour is to work a bit harder than others, everyone can and should have the opportunity to become who they want to be, it's up to you if you want to be successful.

So how do I propose to fix the issues facing mankind? By making a society that fuels success and punishes the idle. That rewards success no matter how small and drives humanity forward.

It is unfortunate that no country on Earth has this set of people. People who will learn, people who will work, and people who will forward our species and our planet for the greater good.

In the pit of modern society, such an Idyllic country could not exist. Which is why I propose to build one.

Only in the oceans safe from the suicide of the rest of humanity. Space and its vast possibilities are a viable option, but space travel is expensive and shall be for many years to come; years which I believe we will not see. So, the ocean will protect humanity, a species-wide dooms day shielded from the dystopia that awaits.

An ideal society, for all of mankind.

All you need to do is ask yourself,

"Do I expect success or do I intend to earn it?"
